A Juicy New Website

UK-based fruit supplier DPS, which imports stone and exotic fruit from 41 countries worldwide, appointed BBD to redesign its website and communications collateral. The new site went live in March 2016, with phase 2 scheduled for launch in May to incorporate additional, optimised content.

BBD’s brief was to create a fresh, modern site that suitably reflects DPS’s own innovative approach to its operations. With no transactional purpose, the site’s primary focus is to communicate the DPS story effectively and creatively to an audience mainly composed of growers, suppliers and potential recruits.

Spearheaded by Account Manager Louise Hart, BBD focused content around three areas: innovation, growers and the DPS philosophy. The more unwieldy elements of the existing DPS site, in place but largely untroubled since 2009, have been replaced by streamlined content using an organic colour palette with plenty of focus on fresh fruit.

The new website draws particular attention to DPS’s innovations, such as investment in state-of-the art packing systems in the UK, with a scrolling content flow that evokes the company’s seamless ‘farm to fruit bowl’ processes. Meanwhile, the DPS network of global growers sees itself showcased with user-contributed case studies. Company history and philosophy are highlighted through a consolidation of branding, including a re-designed logo, and understated sections charting DPS’s growth since 1979.

DPS Commercial and Marketing manager Stuart Baxter reported that initial feedback following the launch of the new site “has been hugely positive” and was clearly delighted with the collaboration.

“We sat down with the team at BBD with the primary aim of refreshing our website and creating some supporting assets that would allow us to present ourselves more consistently across all mediums,” he said.

“Within a short space of time and just a few discussions we had a clear project framework, budget, and timeline on the table from BBD. We were immediately impressed with the passion shown by the team at BBD and how quickly they became knowledgeable about our sector.

“Throughout the project we received regular status updates and always found the team to be forthcoming and timely with communications which we appreciated. Ultimately we have been extremely pleased with the creative abilities and execution of BBD to make the vision outlined in the initial brief a reality with a new website, refreshed logos, and updated stationery. We are planning to work with BBD again later this year and would highly recommend their work.”
